Indian Ocean Tsunami News
An earthquake off Malaysia on 26
December 2004 caused a tsunami which wrought destruction on a huge
scale. Over a quarter of a million lives were lost around the Indian
Ocean.
Freemasonry's response was
characteristically swift and generous. Some articles describing our
efforts can be found below:
UPDATE
As at 13 January 2006, the Freemasons'
Grand Charity's special Tsunami Relief Chest had received a total of
£832,528.38 - entirely from the pockets of Freemasons. The total
includes a generous donation of $48,500 from The Masonic Service
Association of North America.
