At its June meeting every year, the members of Bridgend's Morganwg
Lodge welcome their wives, partners and friends to join them for
the meal which follows every meeting. 2003 was no different.
Before the
meeting, Martyn Daley, Morganwg's Worshipful Master, announced
that all proceeds from a raffle would be donated to the BBC's
2003 Children In Need Appeal in November. This seems to
have stimulated a great demand for tickets and over
£220 was raised! This was topped up to £250 by an anonymous
donor.
"This is a
charity particularly close to my heart," said the
Worshipful Master, "100% of the money donated reaches the
worthy causes. Nothing is taken out for administration - that is
financed by the BBC from TV Licence receipts and its other
sources of revenue."
Founded in
1980, the charity has raised over £325 million for children's
causes. Events culminate on the third Friday in November every
year when the world's most popular radio station, Radio 2, is
devoted to Children in need all day, and at 7pm BBC's flagship
television channel joins in for seven hours. Click
